The 2019 Genus GNS 1.1 is a 43mm rose gold wristwatch innovator with an unprecedented wandering time display. The 2019 GPHG Mechanical Exception prize winner employs three different indicators to tell time in an engaging and animated fashion. With a tonneau case and a reasonable thickness of 13.1mm, the Genus watch design is an ergonomic triumph as well as a design landmark.
Reading the Genus 1.1 is surprisingly easy; the hour is read at nine o'clock; the tens of minutes are indicated by a wandering index (here in red) at the head of a train of satellite companions; the single-digit minutes are read from the wheel at three o'clock.
Genus' 160W-1.1 movement is a manual wind caliber with a 50-hour power reserve and a traditional 18,000 vibration per hour beat rate. All bridges and plates are crafted from 18-karat white or rose gold, and the highest standards of traditional Swiss watch finish are incorporated. With a free-sprung balance and a full balance bridge, the Genus 1.1's manufacture movement is more robust than those of conventional construction.
