Rolex continues to be on everyone’s mind following last week’s introduction of the 2020 novelties, and Mike Manjos joins us for the latest edition of Market Wrap to explore the impact. From market fluctuations and high prices posted across the world, to the exuberance as product arrives so soon after introduction, there’s much to discuss this week.
The episode kicks off with three pieces that recently hit our inventory – each unique in their own right. First up is an IWC Big Pilot Limited Edition designed for Tourneau (IW5004-08) in rose gold with a striking black dial, followed by a stunning A. Lange & Söhne Lange 1 Moonphase (192.029). The final new arrival is something we really don’t see very often, and Mike perfectly characterized it as a “time capsule” – a Zenith-movement Rolex Daytona in perfect unworn condition with all stickers firmly in place. This will not last long!
For our main topic today, we’ve got “all Rolex all the time,” and Mike dials in on the Oyster Perpetuals with their vibrantly colored dials. This is the first time in nearly 18 months that new Rolex models are hitting showcases the world over, and excitement is high. Secondary market value is a reflection of the strength and demand at any given time, and Mike addresses this topic with great care, as there are already listings out there at shockingly high prices…
The episode wraps up with a few a models we are looking to buy for WatchBox’s global inventory, including the now discontinued Rolex “Smurf,” the old Oyster Perpetuals in 36 and 39mm, and black dial ceramic Daytonas (116500LN). Contact one of our client advisors [[email protected]] to talk about the process of selling your watch to WatchBox – whether you have one of these models or another timepiece you wish to sell or trade.
