Mike Manjos is NOT in Philly, but reporting in from vacation in Colorado to keep the Market Wrap ball rolling! First, he shows off three noteworthy watches – a gorgeous Patek Philippe Pilot's Calatrava Ref. 5522A introduced as a limited edition in 2017 for the Patek Philippe Grand Exhibition in New York, the ever-popular Audemars Piguet Royal Oak 15500ST, and an underrated Panerai Luminor Marina Left-Handed PAM026.
While on the road Mike is keeping up with the latest in the watch industry. He touches on Chrono24 and how they raised 100M € ($118M+ USD) in Series C investments. Specifically, he finds the involvement of Aglaé Ventures to be a good sign of the confidence and capital that has been growing in the watch industry of late.
The second big piece of news came from the sale of an ultra-rare Philippe Dufour Grande et Petite Sonnerie that went for over $8 million USD from A Collected Man. With Philippe Dufour being such a ground-breaking watchmaker in the independent realm, Mike sees this sale as a clear sign that the recent boom in independent watches is here to stay.
Lastly, Mike brings us three of his MVPs - Manjos Value Plays. The first is a Vacheron Patrimony Perpetual Calendar Chronograph (49005), the second is the Jaeger-LeCoultre Master Perpetual (Q149847A) and the third an Audemars Piguet Jules Audemars Chronograph (26100BC).
