Launched at Baselworld 2018 to mark the 25th anniversary of its model line, the 2018 Omega Seamaster Diver 300m Professional 210.30.42.20.06.001 is the watch that Rolex fears most. Unlike Rolex's Submariner, the 2018 Omega Seamaster boasts a diving clasp with both a fold-out dive extension and a push-button slider for fine adjustments and precise bracelet sizing.

A stunning combination of Omega dive watch packaging skill and detail refinements, the 2018 Omega Seamaster maintains a slim profile of 13.7mm around its Omega caliber 8800 co-axial METAS chronometer movement. The automatic caliber 8800 offers superb durability thanks to a full balance bridge, free-sprung balance, and an Omega Si14 silicon hairspring for anti-magnetic resilience. Thanks to its efficient escapement and large mainspring barrel, this automatic movement boasts a power reserve of 55 hours.

Hacking seconds (stop seconds), a quickset date mechanism, and 35 jewels ensure flexible operation and smooth timekeeping. A full balance bridge with a free sprung balance ensure robust resistance to shocks and vibrations. 300-meter water resistance is assured by the screwed in caseback and screw down crown.

The Omega's unidirectional dive bezel features a blue ceramic insert with white lacquered characters; the signature Omega Seamaster Professional helium escape valve has been reprofiled with a conical taper for enhanced elegance. For 2018, the gas escape valve has been redesigned to permit opening the device while still submerged; if necessary, the helium release crown can be unscrewed prior to ascending from a dive.

The 2018 Omega Seamaster Diver 300M marks the return of the celebrated "James Bond" Omega wave dial. But unlike the original James Bond Seamaster, the 2018 model features a ceramic dial with laser-cut texture that would have left both Agent 007 and Q Branch deeply impressed. This particular Seamaster model includes a chrome-plated ceramic dial with applique hour indices. The 2018 Seamaster model relocates the date window from the prior model’s three o’clock to six o’clock.

And unlike the Seamaster Professional worn by Pierce Brosnan during his turn as James Bond, the 2018 iteration features a full sapphire display case back that permits appreciation of Omega's in-house automatic caliber. Each 2018 Omega Seamaster Diver 300M is encased in 42mm of steel surrounding a chrome dial on a stainless steel bracelet. Agent 007 would approve.
