The Omega Seamaster Aqua Terra 231.10.42.21.03.006 “Blue Wave” is the most intriguing version of Omega’s “surf and turf” Seamaster collection.
This Aqua Terra’s standout feature is its spectacular “transferred” metallic blue wave dial pattern. Several different tones of blue, reflective layers, and waves of varying intensity enliven one of the most engaging Omega Seamaster dials since the original “James Bond” Seamaster of the 1990s. An array of yellow gold hands, Omega logos, and hour indices keep the dial animated and the charisma flowing. For good measure, Omega adds a vintage inspired “broad arrow” minute hand.
Inside the 150-meter water resistant case, this Omega Aqua Terra relies on a co-axial chronometer caliber 8500. This Omega-exclusive Swiss movement boasts a 60-hour power reserve, George Daniels co-axial escapement, and a COSC Swiss chronometer certification. The movement features stop seconds (hacking) and a function that allows the hour hand to be stepped independently of the other hands while jumping time zones during travel. A silicon hairspring renders the movement antimagnetic to the point of being amagnetic.
Omega fits the Aqua Terra with a sapphire display caseback so that the owner can appreciate the cotes de Geneve in Arabesque, the blackened screws, and the stylized winding rotor of the caliber 8500. The screw-down crown helps to ensure security of the movement from water, and shouldered crown guards help to protect the watch from damage during use. Super Luminova Luminant paint is employed on the dial to ensure nighttime visibility of the watch.
The 41.5mm stainless steel case is 13.2mm in thickness and a manageable 48mm from lug to lug. A full stainless steel bracelet with deployant clasp keeps this luxury sports watch firmly anchored to the wrist. In all respects, this land-and-sea Omega Seamaster is a more technically accomplished and aesthetically intriguing alternative to the Rolex Datejust 41.
