The Ressence Type 3 TI hails from one of the most exciting brands in the burgeoning field of independent watchmaking. Created by Benoit Mintiens of Antwerp, Belgium and crafted in Switzerland, the Ressence watch brand has developed a singular style based on the Ressence Orbital Convex System, or ROCS.
Each Ressence Type 3 includes a dial that is hermetically sealed from the ETA 2824 automatic caliber providing power: the ROCS module is created in-house by Ressence, is bathed in 35.7ml of oil. Each ROCS 3 incorporates, magnetic coupling to the base caliber, a shock-absorbing system, and seven bellows to allow for thermal expansion of the dial's oil.
The ROCS 3 system features 215 parts and displays for the day, date, hours, minutes, an seconds. Each display rotates around the watch dial even as the individual displays turn within their scales. Due to the sapphire crystal and oil possessing an identical index of refraction, the crystal is distortion free and almost completely transparent from any angle.
Each Ressence Type 3 can be wound manually and set using the case back as a crown. Sapphires cover both sides of the watch, and a narrow mid-case comprised of grade 5 titanium acts as the foundation on which all other components of the Ressence Type 3 are assembled.
This Ressence watch is encased in 44mm of titanium surrounding a titanium dial on a black leather strap. Functions include hours, minutes, day, and date. The watch also measures 16mm in thickness and 52mm from lug-to-lug.
