Michael breaks down the most famous, or some of the most renown, manual wind and automatic calibers throughout the history of watchmaking. Mike touches on hand-wound and self-winding calibers such as Lemania, Venus, ETA, Zenith, and Valjoux that were produced by these companies for use by brands like Rolex, Breitling, and Omega to power their the time pieces. Mike focuses on a couple of calibers in particular including the Lemania CH27, Venus 175, and the Valjoux 72 -- why these calibers are famous, what they're functions are, the history, and watches we've seen powered by these movements. Although the industry is constantly innovating, and many brands are bringing things in house, much of the industry still uses components from these historic calibers.
