The watch industry is big...like really big. With countless amounts of brands in Switzerland alone, it gets hard keeping track of who is who. But, in fact, a lot of our favorite brands like IWC, A. Lange & Sohne, Omega, and others are actually owned by 1 of 3 major watch conglomerates. LVMH, Richemont, and the Swatch Group have majority stakes in tons of different brands. But how do they decide which brands to acquire, and how do competing brands interact when they're owned by the same group? And how do independents like Audemars Piguet and Rolex fit into all of it?
