De Bethune DB28 vs Richard Mille RM030 starts now on Versus!
The Richard Mille RM030 is a wrist friendly grade five titanium tonneau case that wears equally well on the wrists of large and small watch collectors. With its low mass, comfortable curved caseback, and supple rubber strap, the RM 030 is a pleasure to wear. Inside the case, an openworked dial reveals the base plate of the caliber RMAR1 automatic movement. Super Luminova ensures that nighttime visibility is effortless, and sub dials reveal the date, power reserve, and winding system status.
A display caseback reveals the automatic Richard Mille caliber RMAR1 which is based on a Vaucher 4000 automatic. It has a 55-hour power reserve thanks to twin mainspring barrels, but the movement automatically disengages the winding system at 50 hours in order to reduced wear on the system. A variable inertial Richard Mille balance permits tailoring of winding efficiency to match the user’s lifestyle. Skeletonized bridges of grade 5 titanium and four elastomer shock absorbers combine with the free sprung balance to ensure superb shock resistance.
De Bethune’s DBB28 launched in 2011 and immediately won the Aiguille d’Or at the GPHG. The 43mm grade five DB28 Kind of Blue includes the DB28’s celebrated “floating lugs” that adapt to the watch buyer’s wrist size and shape. The grade 5 titanium case is fired to produce a rich blue finish, and the same treatment is applied to many of the interior components of the watch. A bullhead style winder and hidden moonphase adjuster complete the exterior of the watch.
The De Bethune caliber 2115 is a manual wind in house caliber with a six-day power reserve. The 144 hour power reserve is provided by twin mainspring barrels, and both sides of the watch include a power reserve indicator. A true manufacture, De Bethune produces even the most specialized and challenging of components including proprietary hairspring, silicon escape wheel, titanium and white gold balance, and triple pare chute shock protection system. The spherical De Bethune moon phase display is accurate to 1122 years and is composed of blued steel and palladium hemispheres.
