Tonight's episode features the 2024 Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean 600M Boutique Specials. While all Omega Seamaster models offer water resistance, durability, precision, and a grand heritage, the newest Planet Ocean 600M offers all of that plus exclusive color combinations. Green and silver, sandblasted beige, and galvanized "gunmetal" grey titanium arrive for 2024 at prices between $7,100 and $7,500.
The Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean Boutique Editions receive special treatments for the 2024 model year. Available only at Omega factory stores, the new 43.5mm dive watch sports sleek and muted full-satin stainless steel finish. All versions of the watch are offered on rubber straps that are color coded to match the dials and bezels. Green, beige, and grey dials are complemented by dial furniture - hands, indices, logos - that included anti-glare brushed satin finish to match the watch as a whole.
Mechanically, all three Omega Planet Ocean Boutique Specials are powered by the caliber 8900 co-axial Master Chronometer. The automatic winding movement is equipped with twin mainspring barrels in series for a flat torque curve and 60 hours of power reserve. George Daniels' famous co-axial escapement adds sophistication while aiding the causes of power reserve, accuracy, and reduced maintenance requirements. METAS chronometer certification is included along with shock-resistant movement architecture and virtual immunity to magnetic field. A independent mobile hour hand is useful for changing timezones, and the watch includes stop seconds for precise setting.
In addition to mechanical sophistication, the Planet Ocean Boutique Specials are capable diving watches. Each is rated to 600 meters of water resistant but validated to 750 meters as part of meeting the ISO 6425. Helium escape valves are present to meet the unique needs of saturation divers. And the 120-click unidirectional dive bezel can be set with precision and satisfying ratchet action. Each Planet Ocean Boutique Special includes a ceramic bezel insert for durability.
Tonght's show also includes macro images of haute horlogerie luxury watch mechanical movements. Detailed images of watches from A. Lange & Sohne, Patek Philippe, Glashutte Original, and De Bethune form the backbone of this episode.
