Back in the mid-90s to early 2000s, there was no hotter ticket in the Omega lineup than the "James Bond" Seamaster Professional Diver 300M. And that spirit lives in this Omega Seamaster Professional 300M James Bond 40th Anniversary Limited Edition. This limited run of 10,007 pieces was released in conjunction with 2002’s “Die Another Day,” and it features enough 007-exclusive content to impress Q-branch.
Unlike the original (quartz!) Omega Seamaster that debuted Pierce Brosnan in 1995’s GoldenEye, this later model is a highly evolved mechanical specimen of the breed. Its iconic dial sports a custom 007-inflected variation on the “blue wave” of the Brosnan models, and the addition of applied indices is an upscale refinement that Her Majesty would have lauded.
Likewise, an applied Omega logo and company name at 12 o’clock speak to the parent firm’s march upmarket since the mid-1990s. The skeletonized hands retain the elegance of the initial models and eschew the functional but hulking profile of the alternative “broadsword” hands. The faceted unidirectional rotating dive bezel remains, and the look that re-launched the James Bond franchise survives intact.
Omega’s epic Seamaster Professional five-link bracelet remains as stellar today as it was upon debut in 1993 and the launch of this “Bond 40th” in 2002. The milled deployant clasp retains the security of twin-trigger release and one of the most useful dive-extensions in the business. For good measure, 007 engraving enhances the brushed underside of the clasp.
Naturally, you won't admit a word of this fanboy fantasy to your office colleagues, but rest assured that the guy with the Rolex Submariner in the next suite is too preoccupied practicing his Sean Connery accent to pass judgment on you...
All of the standard-issue Omega Bond-watch toys are present in force: helium escape valve; clasp diving suit extension; and COSC chronometer certification. Add a superior 44-hour power reserve, and result is a luxury dive watch that could make Pierce Brosnan second-guess retiring his license to kill. The impressive machinery sits under a screw-down solid case back blazon with James Bond 40th Anniversary engravings and the iconic “rifle barrel” James Bond film motif.
