Collecting watches rarely occurs in sterile isolation; watch collectors tend to be colorful characters.
Marcus G is a pen connoisseur, pug enthusiast, and watch collector of the highest order. As a longtime enthusiast of luxury horology and high horology, Marcus spreads his acquisitions across a broad spectru
m of watch models and brands.
Currently, Marcus' collection spans the likes of highly rated independent watch brands such as F.P. Journe (Chronometre Bleu) and mainstream luxury nameplates such as Omega. The 2020 Omega caliber 321 revival -- commonly referred to as the "Ed White," and the 2020 Omega Silver Snoopy 3 (Apollo XIII 50th Anniversary) are on the way.
Beyond F.P. Journe, Marcus is an enthusiast of H. Moser & Cie. of Schaffhausen, Switzerland. He takes particular pride in his Moser Endeavour Perpetual Calendar - a fusion of Moser's 7-day movement and case with Andreas Strehler's brilliant perpetual calendar complication.
Also a fan of perpetual calendars in general, Marcus added the silver screen-standout Jaeger LeCoultre Master Ultra Thin Perpetual Calendar -- better known as the "Doctor Strange" for its starring role in the 2016 Marvel movie blockbuster.
As a collector, Marcus is more of an emotional and intuitive collector who responds to models that choose him rather than the other way around. His early years as a budding watch enthusiast included interest in sports watch stalwarts like the Timex Ironman and Casio G-Shock. Mechanical Seiko watches followed before Marcus dove into Rolex and Jaeger LeCoultre models. He remains a Rolex collector, and the GMT-Master II "Pepsi" on a Rolex Jubilee bracelet in stainless steel.
And while Marcus appreciates vintage watches, he prefers to collect more modern watches with better provenance, condition, durability, and intact accessory sets.
And yes, Marcus HAS owned a Rolex Submariner, but it was sold to finance his march into high horology, independent brands, and boutique models. This is "Collector Conversations: Marcus G."
