Join WatchBox for Part I of an exploration of 10 exceptional watches from legendary Genevan house of horology, Patek Philippe. Our in-house expert, Brian Govberg, breaks down the first 5 watches in our two-part series. These include both current and retired classics in the Patek collection such as the Calatrava “Geneva Boutique Rue du Rhone” Limited Edition, Ref. 5565 - introduced in 2006; and the Perpetual Calendar Chronograph, Ref. 5970 - which had the shortest production run for a serially produced Patek Perpetual Calendar Chronograph. This is regarded as one of the finest modern Patek Philippe watches ever made.
Brian then moves to the Aquanaut Travel Time, Ref 5164A-001 - who’s second time zone is represented by a hollow hour-hand which its behind the main hand, and the Annual Calendar with Regulator Style Display, Ref. 5235G - reportedly one of Thierry Stern’s favorite models ever produced. Lastly, the Nautilus Perpetual Calendar in white gold, Ref. 5740G/1G - which is the first grand complication in the Nautilus collection.
Inquiring minds would like to know: What is your favorite from Brian’s virtual tour of the Patek collection and which would you add to your collection? Do you agree with Brian that the 5970 Perpetual Calendar Chronograph is the grail piece? Where does Patek stand on your list of luxury watches?
