2025 Patek Philippe watches will debut at Watches & Wonders in April, but Tim Mosso is ready with new watch predictions and discontinued references right now! The 2025 Patek Philippe "run out" list of discontinued watches has arrived - at least in part - and Tim explains the logic of outgoing models. Moreover, Tim guesses at the 2025 Patek Philippe watches with a combination of wishes, hope, and a kernel of truth.
For 2025, the Patek Philippe Aquanaut 5167/1A has been discontinued (Tim's review here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BeFJvugm-0A). To be clear, this is the Aquanaut "jumbo" on a full stainless steel bracelet. The original 5167A with its "composite" rubber strap remains in the collection. It's entirely possible that the full bracelet Aquanaut has been removed in order to create greater separation between it and the $41,240 Cubitus 5821/1A. This makes sense since the Cubitus was introduced in October 2024 as a replacement for the discontinued Nautilus 5711. Could a 2025 Patek Aquanaut redesign be in the cards, or is Thierry Stern simply trimming the catalog?
Fans of the Nautilus Moonphase will find one fewer option for 2025. The steel Nautilus 5712/1A has been discontinued (Tim's review here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xwmYCjfHmrg).
It joins the 5711/1A in that regard, but Patek continues to offer steel Nautilus Annual Calendar and the 5990 Nautilus Travel Time Chronograph. Patek Philippe launched the 5712 in 2006 as the successor to the one-year-only 3712. Its combination of a moonphase, pointer date, and power reserve indicator made the Nautilus Moon Phase a refined counterpart to the larger complications in the collection. Due to the long-running nature of the Nautilus Moonphase, it is possible that a replacement based on the latest Nautilus "Jumbo," the Nautilus 5811, is being prepared. While Thierry Stern has been clear that there will be no near-term replacement for steel 5711, he has allowed complicated steel Nautilus watch models to remain in the collection. Is a Patek Philippe 5812/1A in the offing? Time will tell.
Finally, 2025 witnesses the conclusion of several complicated model lines. The white gold 5207G with tourbillon, minute repeater, and instantaneous perpetual calendar will be discontinued. Its close cousin, the 5208R grande complication (Tim's review here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=inWxi8nkoB8), also reaches the end of the line. However, the 2023 Patek Philippe Tokyo Grand Exhibition previewed a new 5308P-010. With a split seconds monopusher chronograph, instant jumping perpetual calendar, and a minute repeater, the Patek Philippe 5308 adds a rattrapante to the original 5208. Perhaps it was inevitable once the more complicated 5470 arrived in 2022, but the platinum 5370P-011 with blue enamel dial will be built in its final examples in 2025 (Tim's review here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cIypWNGQa6s).
