The best luxury watches for every budget are today's topic as Tim Mosso reviews the best watches from $3,000 to nearly $300,000. Patek Philippe and Vacheron Constantin are high on the list as Tim reviews a stunning assortment of watches for men (mostly!) built by the best luxury watch brands in Switzerland and Germany. From the Patek Philippe Calatrava Pilot and 5960/1A Chronograph Annual Calendar Chronograph to the Vacheron Constantin Overseas, this episode is the ultimate watch buyer's guide.
The Patek Philippe Calatrava Pilot Alarm Travel Time 5520P is the ultimate travel watch. Its 2019 release stunned with a combination of 42.2mm platinum Calatrava "Pilot" case, a black sunburst dial with luminescent numerals, and a dedicated automatic movement. This Patek sports watch includes an exclusive caliber AL 30-660 S C FUS. It includes a 24-hour alarm with digital setting, a second time zone, and an alarm system that works like a minute repeater complete with strikers, gong, and centrifugal governor. This is the ultimate GMT watch and the ultimate wristwatch alarm. This watch is the "dream watch" recommendation at a price up to $300,000; it costs $260,220
Patek Philippe launched its stainless steel 5960/1A at Baselworld 2014. Compared to the previous precious metal 5960, the new annual calendar chronograph was far more of a sports watch. The white dial 5960/1A is a flyback chronograph that also includes a power reserve indicator, a day/night indicator, and an annual calendar with aperture displays. The automatic winding caliber 28-520 offers a 55-hour power reserve, column wheel and vertical clutch, antimagnetic silicon hairspring, and a durable Gyromax balance architecture. The 40.5mm stainless steel case has been paired with a full stainless steel bracelet by Patek Philippe. The 5960/1A-001 can be found for sale between $70,000 and $85,000.
The Vacheron Constantin Overseas is the Geneva watchmaker's flagship sports watch. But fewer than 100 examples of the Overseas Ultra Thin 2000V/120G-B122 were delivered -- all of them from Vacheron boutiques. At 40mm in diameter and 7.5mm thick, this ultra-luxury white gold sports watch might be the most collectible Vacheron sports watch since 1977's reference 222. With the legendary Vacheron Constantin caliber 1120, Geneva hallmark finish, and an exclusive no-date dial in grey, this Overseas Ultra Thin is the ultimate alternative to a Patek Philippe Nautilus 5711 or an AP Royal Oak "Jumbo" reference 15202.
All of this plus watch collector wrist shots will be featured in this episode of "Watches Tonight!"
