Breitling Premier Pistachio: Why I'd Buy This Watch and Your Questions Answered

The 2021 Breitling Premier B09 "Pistachio" dial was a masterpiece of luxury watch design and planning. Launched as an evolution of the 2018 Breitling Premier collection, the "pistachio dial" was one of the best watches of the year and more evidence that Breitling's comeback is real. Breitling reference AB0930D31L1P1 is a gorgeous dress watch/sports watch hybrid for men as well as women. Watch collectors should considering buying the Breitling Premier B09 in either its green dial or new burgundy dial forms.
At 40mm in diameter in stainless steel, the Breitling Premier B09 proves that the energy and inspiration of Breitling's peak years has resurfaced in Grenchen, Switzerland. The Premier B09 retains core model features such as vintage inspiration, 100-meter water resistance, and a clean dial with syringe hands and Arabic numerals. Changes come in the form of a new no-date dial, 40mm case, and a manual wind conversion of the Breitling B01 caliber known as caliber B09.
Core vintage styling traits start with the art deco inspired "side strakes" in the Premier's case. This Breitling watch's sapphire crystal is domed and cambered dramatically in order to suggest a mid-20th century Plexigas crystal. The dial includes a subtle tachymeter track; this type of feature generally occupied the dial of sporting watches prior to the 1960s. A set of vertically oriented Arabic numerals boasts rhodium-plated metallic luster. The hour and minute hands are a hybrid of baton and syringe style; they are the only luminescent feature of this dial.
Vintage watch collectors will appreciate the strike marks on the chronograph minutes register. The marks at three minutes, six minutes, and nine minutes correspond to the mid-20th-century long-distance phone billing system, which added charges every three minutes.
Certain Breitling watches have featured manufacture movements since 2009, when automatic chronograph caliber B01 debuted in the Chronomat line.
The manual wind Breitling B09 movement is an adaptation of the B01 that is designed to create a thinner watch. Moreover, the B09 is true to history since the historical Breitling Premier collection was offered during a time when all chronograph movements were manual wind. The power reserve of 70 hours is the same as with the automatic B01. This movement includes COSC Swiss chronometer certification and five-position adjustment at Breitling. Caliber B09 includes hacking seconds for precise setting of time. Chronograph connoisseurs will be pleased to note the presence of both a column wheel and a vertical clutch in the Breitling chronograph architecture.
At a retail price of $8,600, the Breitling Premier B09, reference AB0930D31L1P1, is a well-priced watch with appeal to rival chronograph offerings from Rolex and Omega. For 2022, the Premier B09 collection expands with a burgundy dial, reference AB0930D41K1P1, and a rose gold watch, reference RB0930371G1P1.
All of this plus watch collector wrist shots will be featured in this episode of "Watches Tonight!"
