Panerai comes to Watches & Wonders 2026 leaning hard into its military and tool watch DNA — with a vintage-inspired Luminor revival, a record-breaking power reserve, and one of the most extreme watches ever released under the brand's name. Tim Mosso goes hands-on with every piece.
The Luminor PAM01731 and Luminor Destro PAM01732 bring the iconic 6152/1 case architecture down to 44mm for the first time — a more wearable size without sacrificing the original's cushion case geometry or 300m water resistance. The PAM01731 wears a tobacco brown sandwich dial; the left-handed PAM01732 Destro pairs a matte blue dial with a crown guard positioned for right-wrist wear — the original military configuration for divers who needed their left hand free.
The Luminor 8 Giorni PAM01733 introduces Brunito — a new proprietary finish that starts with black PVD on steel, then is manually brushed back to reveal the metal beneath. Every case comes out slightly different. Combined with an 8-day power reserve from the P.5000 movement, it's the pick of the collection.
The Luminor PAM01735 goes full vintage at 47mm — the original size — with an ivory tropical-effect sandwich dial that darkens toward the edges. The Luminor Forged Titanium PAM01629 joins it at 47mm in Panerai's first-ever use of forged titanium: two grades bonded under extreme heat and pressure, creating a wave-like surface pattern where no two cases are alike. Limited to 100 pieces.
The Luminor 31 Giorni PAM01631 is the halo piece — 31 days of power reserve from a single wind. Seven years of R&D, four barrels, 3.3 metres of mainspring, 128 turns of the crown. A Torque Limiter keeps timekeeping consistent throughout the full 31 days, then the movement stops automatically to protect itself. In a 44mm Goldtech case with a skeletonized dial. Limited to 200 pieces.
Tim saves the best for last: the Submersible Navy SEALs Afniotech Experience PAM01089. The case is built from Afniotech — a material composed of over 95% hafnium, used in aerospace and nuclear applications, machined on five-axis equipment, and making its first-ever appearance in watchmaking. Water resistant to 1,000 metres. Inside, the P.9010/GMT movement adds a second time zone. Limited to just 35 pieces — and each purchase comes with an exclusive Navy SEALs training experience.
