Donald Trump Made a Tourbillon Watch. But Is It Any Good?

Donald Trump's "Trump Victory Tourbillon" is the most unexpected $100,000 luxury watch of 2024. Launched at a time of year when new watch debuts are few, the Donald Trump tourbillon arrives in time for the US election and potential early holiday shopping. But is the Trump Victory Tourbillon any good as a watch? Tim Mosso explores and reviews the strangest luxury watch and watch brand debut of this model year.
Luxury watches have long been associated with U.S. presidents. Aside from the Rolex Day Date's longtime "President" bracelet, direct connections include a Patek Philippe associated with Lyndon Johnson, Barack Obama's Rolex Cellini, and Joe Biden's Omega Seamaster Diver 300M. Richard Nixon was offered a solid gold Omega Speedmaster Moonwatch to commemorate Apollo XI. Vulcain has long offered its Vulcain Cricket series of alarm watches to American presidents.
However, none of these commanders-in-chief ever attempted to brand and market their own watches. As of late September 2024, "The Best Watches on Earth LLC," a company registered in Wyoming, has brought a collection of Donald Trump endorsed watches to market. While several Seiko-powered basic models are available to provide volume options, the "Swiss Made" Trump Victory Tourbillon is the most intriguing to fans of traditional watchmaking.
The look is, to say the least, provocative. Available solely in yellow gold or rose gold, the Victory Tourbillon costs $100,000 and will be made to order in an edition of up to 147 pieces. A two-year warranty applies, and it appears that BCP Tourbillon of La Chaux de Fonds is the mechanical muscle behind the year's least expected microbrand. 122 VS1 grade diamonds decorate a gold case reportedly composed of 200 grams of the 18-karat precious metal. Bracelets appear to be standard on all models, and a personalized message from Donald Trump can be optionally requested on the sapphire display caseback. A 105-hour power reserve is credible for a tourbillon watch, but neither size nor water resistance are clear from the marketing materials provided.
Ominously, the FAQ for the brand indicates that all sales are final and no refunds are possible. Moreover, deliveries will not begin until after the election, so anyone interested in the Trump Victory Tourbillion needs to commit in order to take delivery by Christmas 2024.
