With two separate releases within a year of each other and ever-rising pre-owned prices, Rolex is hotter than ever. That’s why Mike decided to bring WatchBox’s Lead Rolex Buyer, Layla Reslan, back on the show to discuss how they saw the market react and what to expect for the future.
Mike begins the show by discussing watches we bought this week. They include the Patek Philippe Calatrava in yellow gold with a black dial and micro-rotor (5000J), the stunning and rare F.P. Journe Tourbillon Historique 30 Years Anniversary, and the Rolex Oyster Perpetual with blue dial from last year’s releases.
The main conversation of the day revolves around the Rolex market and what we can expect going forward. With the release of the new Explorer watches this year, Layla and Mike break down what effect they had on the previous model and their expectations for the palm dial. They also touch on the meteorite Daytona and how it quickly became almost impossible to get which makes its pre-owned value difficult to gauge.
They then look back to the previous year with the releases of the Submariners with green and blue bezel along with the colored Oyster Perpetual watches. What effects they had on previous models, how they will change the market going forward, and what to expect in the future are all also touched on in this week’s episode of Market Wrap!
