What brands make the best men's watches? How about the best luxury watches for heavy metal? Tonight, Tim Mosso unites luxury watches with metal for a feast of hard rock and high horology. If you've ever wondered what Metallica, Judas Priest, Lemmy, or Mark Tornillo might wear on stage, this episode of "Watches Tonight" is for you!

Rolex is Metallica. Or, to be specific, Rolex is "Metallica," the 1991 self-titled album that marked the band's greatest mainstream success. Rolex watches, by virtue of their ubiquity and mainstream appeal, often become the target of distain by watch snobs obsessed with haute horlogerie and boutique brands. Models like the Rolex Submariner, Rolex Daytona, and Rolex GMT Master II enjoy huge mainstream demand and acclaim, and many purist watch collectors revile the Rolex brand for that reason.

Likewise, Metallica's 16 time platinum eponymous album delivered the kind of mainstream radio play and sales to non-metal fans that other metal acts envied and purist fans decried. Songs like "Nothing Else Matters," "Enter Sandman," and "Sad But True" departed from the conventions of Thrash Metal to create a sound that kept metal alive in the 90s but also spurred a backlash from heavy metal diehards.

Rolex often faces the same type of criticism for playing to mainstream tastes; the 44mm Rolex Deepsea, the two-tone Sea-Dweller steel and gold, and the arguably pandering Oyster Perpetual "Tiffany" turquoise gave rise to charges that Rolex was "selling out." In fairness, Rolex never cut its hair -- Metallica's ultimate transgression.

The German metal veterans of Accept roared back to prominence with 2010's blistering "Blood of The Nations." More than a statement of intent, the comeback album featuring American singer Mark Tornillo proved Accept was still a functioning band - not a heritage act. So successful was the new music that it received instant acclaim from the modern community of heavy metal fans, and related music videos found a home on YouTube in the post-MTV era. Moreover, songs like "Teutonic Terror" and "Blood of the Nations" remain in the Accept setlist over a decade later alongside the band's classics like "Balls to the Wall" and "Restless and Wild."

The Tudor Black Bay dive watch isn't just a great value; it's the watch that best matches Accept's meteoric return to form. Prior to 2012, the Tudor watch brand was much like Accept; both had a glorious past and recent decline. Having departed the American market in 2004 and lost many of its recognizable links to sister brand Rolex, Tudor desperately needed a comeback. The Heritage Black Bay was that comeback. Although not the first "heritage" model or Tudor's first homage watch, the Black Bay seized upon Tudor's most valuable marketing tool: its shared history with Rolex.

The Tudor Black Bay is an homage to classic Tudor Submariner models such as the 7922 and 7924. Critically, these watches featured cases and bracelets shared with the Rolex Submariner -- right down to the Rolex maker's mark. Today's Heritage Black Bay collection offers the kind of vintage Rolex homage that Rolex itself will not offer. The Black Bay Pro pays homage to the 1971 Rolex Explorer II 1655; the Black Bay GMT pays homage to the Rolex GMT Master 6542. Additional and less historically inclined models such as the Black Bay Ag 925 and Black Bay Ceramic offer styles and materials for which Rolex has no equivalent.
