Tim Mosso has owned many luxury watches. But recently, the price of admission for these watches has dropped dramatically - as in "free." What kind of responsibility does an internet watch salesman have as far as disclosure and candor are concerned? Tonight, Tim tackles the issue of disclosure in advertising, endorsements, and promotion related to luxury watches and other items he receives for free from manufacturers.
Ironically, Tim spent more money on watches back when he made less of it. All of his Omega and Jaeger LeCoultre watches were bought with cash from sources as varied as authorized dealers, preowned watch dealers, and individual collectors. From dive watches to tourbillons to perpetual calendars and chronographs, the watches Tim owned were the ones he liked enough to buy with his own money.
As a spokesman for WatchBox, Tim's agenda is clear; advertise company inventory to watch collectors who might find these watches of interest. But what if a third-party sends a free watch or watch accessories? What kind of fair warning is due to watch collectors and enthusiasts who can see the goods but not the whole story behind them?
Now that Tim has been a fixture in the watch world for eight years, he has a platform across multiple social media. On Instagram, two YouTube channels, a Facebook group, and several watch collector forums, Tim often shares his opinions of new luxury watches and lifestyle accessories. Tonight, Tim and his online audience have a chance to confront these questions and lay out ground rules for reviewing watches and accessories provided on a promotional basis.
All of this plus watch collector wrist shots will be featured in this episode of "Watches Tonight!"
