With a pulse on the secondary watch market and what’s trending worldwide, WatchBox brings you the latest edition of Market Wrap. True to form, Mike Manjos kicks off this week’s conversation with some of his favorite pieces that came across the trading floor this week, and we think you will be surprised by two of the three… First up is the Daniel Roth Academic Ellipsocurvex Chronomax Masters Chronograph, followed by a Gerald Genta Arena Chrono Quattro Retro, and then a stunning A. Lange & Söhne Datograph in platinum. These three models share the distinction of being ‘interesting chronographs’ – which is your favorite?
As the fourth quarter is now upon us, we take a closer look at the state of the market and the alignment of retail prices, supply and demand, and going market values. The “over-retail” phenomenon used to be reserved for just a few select references, and it is far more ubiquitous today. So, when so many models are trading over-retail, where can you look for value? Mike points to underappreciated models from great manufacturers, with opportunities from leading brands like Patek Philippe and Rolex, as well as incredibly unique and long discontinued models from the likes of Daniel Roth, Gerald Genta, early Roger Dubuis.
In closing, Mike highlights several models WatchBox is looking to acquire for inventory, including the gold Rolex GMT with green dial, Patek Philippe’s Annual Calendar Chronograph; Ref. 5960, and pieces from the early days of Franck Muller. Contact one of our client advisors [[email protected]] to talk about the process of selling your watch to WatchBox – whether you have one of these models or another timepiece you wish to sell or trade.
