Mike Manjos is back in Philly! Welcome to the latest episode of Market Wrap, your direct line to what’s driving the secondary watch market. True to form, Mike kicks off this week’s conversation with some of his favorite pieces that came across the trading floor this week, including two distinctively colorful models from the Crown. First up is the Rolex Oyster Perpetual 41 with a coral red dial (124300-0007), followed by a Day-Date in yellow gold with a green ombré, diamond-set dial (128238-0069). The third piece Mike discusses is the Grönefeld 1941 Principia Automatic from “the horological brothers,” Bart and Tim Grönefeld.
For this week’s main segment, Mike discusses the strength of both the stock market and the watch market, with special attention directed to last weekend’s Phillips auctions. Brass movement Journes continued to bring exceptional results, consistently selling for over $100,000. Mike breaks down a few of the important lots, including the incredibly rare limited-edition Philippe Dufour Simplicity that sold for $1.5 million, and the A. Lange & Sohne Datograph “Yellow Jacket” that brought nearly $200,000.
The episode wraps up with a few a models we are looking to buy for WatchBox’s global inventory, including the Streamliner from H. Moser & Cie, A. Lange & Söhne’s Double Split, and pieces from Grand Seiko’s Four Seasons collection. Contact one of our client advisors [[email protected]] to talk about the process of selling your watch to WatchBox – whether you have one of these models or another timepiece you wish to sell or trade.
