In this episode of The Journe Report, George Mayer is joined by Jiaxian Su - better known as SJX – to discuss the rising value of F.P. Journe watches in Asia and a plethora of other topics. They begin the show with SJX’s involvement in watch journalism and how the advent of social media has made it so an influx of consumers can enter the market with the backing of a good education on the topic with them.
They then shift their attention to the history of independent watches in the Asian market. SJX points out that while brands like Franck Muller and Gerald Genta had a foothold in the market, F.P. Journe finds itself in a fortuitous time of rising income and stock markets in the region that’s driven its success. The increased interest in artisanal watchmaking and attention to detail globally is, of course, another reason the brand finds its value rising.
The duo touch on many other topics including who SJX sees as “the next Journe,” the difficulty of sustained success for bigger brands, and their favorite watches from the upcoming Only Watch Auction. Make sure to watch the full interview to see the wide breadth of subjects George and SJX touch on in the final episode of The Journe Report!
