While in Dubai, CQ caught up with friend and collector Sylvain Gaillard, Director of the Opera Gallery, about his collecting journey, philosophy, and take on all things watches. The duo speak about Sylvain’s early days as a student when he had his eyes on pieces like the Swatch Scuba 200 and the Baume & Mercier Capeland Chronograph.
Sylvain talks about his rise in the art world and the parallels he sees between the art in his showrooms and the watches on people's wrists. From Zenith El Primero and Montblanc Chronographs, he charts his watch collecting course all the way to Rolex Daytona and the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak 15450. CQ also inquires about what he's seeing in the auction world of both high-end art and watches, comparing the similarities in both.
