The dive watch is the universal luxury watch style. From Rolex to Omega, all of the mainstream watch brands are on the bandwagon. Even ultra-luxury names like Audemars Piguet and Richard Mille offer dive watch models. But amid a year of financial uncertainty, it's a pleasure to see dive watches from Tudor, Longines, Oris and many others priced below $6,000. Tonight, Tim Mosso recommends his favorite sub-$6,000 dive watches.
The 2025 Tudor Black Bay 58 Red - with burgundy color - is a welcome addition to Tudor's iconic dive watch collection. Vintage inspired with a no-date dial, no-guard case, and 39mm diameter, the Tudor Black Bay 58 Red combines modern color with historically true details. The optional five-link bracelet is similar enough to the Rolex Jubilee that anyone who ever wanted a no-date Sub on a Jubilee will find a natural match with Tudor's affordable watch.
The 2025 Tudor Black Bay 58 Red costs $4,275 on a rubber strap, $4,500 on a rivet-style three link bracelet, and $4,600 on the five link Jubilee style bracelet. Internally, a Tudor automatic caliber MT 5400 provides Master Chronometer precision with a 70-hour power reserve and antimagnetic silicon hairspring. This Tudor / Kenissi design offers a full balance bridge and a sophisticated free sprung balance for greater durability.
Longines isn't always the first name mentioned when dive watches are discussed, but its status as one of the world's best selling entry-level luxury watch brands means it cannot be ignored. Launched in 2022, the Longines Ultra Chron Diver is a 43mm steel dive watch inspired by a predecessor from 1968 but built with modern Swiss watch technology. The automatic Ultra-Chron caliber recalls the 1960s original with a beat rate of 36,000 vibrations per hour (5Hz), but the 52-hour power reserve, free sprung balance, and silicon hairspring are modern technology. At $3,600 on a full factory bracelet, the Longines Ultra Chron Diver represents excellent value and distinctive design in the dive watch segment.
Finally, no discussion of affordable dive watches would be complete without mentioning the Oris Aquis Calibre 400. Upon its launch in 2020, the Calibre 400 was a revolutionary product. With a ten-year warranty and a 10 year service interval, the caliber 400 vaulted Oris' humble diving watch past established powers like Rolex, Omega, Blancpain, and Panerai.
The Oris Aquis powered by caliber 400 delivers five days of power reserve, chronometer-beating precision, and over 1,000 Gauss of antimagnetic resilience. A full bracelet with quick release lugs, trigger-deployant clasp, and a fold-out diving extension adds value. The 120-click bezel features an upscale ceramic insert and the 41.5mm diameter is sufficient for both ease of reading and ease of wearing. For $3,500-$3,800, the Oris Aquis Calibre 400 remains an admirably attainable over-achiever.
