NEVER Sell These Watches - Watches That are Money in the Bank

Rolex, Omega, and Patek Philippe makes many of the world's most collectible and valuable luxury watches. While true in general, it's particularly the case for certain models such as the Rolex Oyster Perpetual, Omega Speedmaster, and Patek Philippe Calatrava. In rare cases, these watches become more than timepieces; they're an asset class. Tonight's show focuses on luxury watches that are excellent bets to hold their value for the savvy watch collector-investor. Do not sell these watches if you already own them!
The Rolex Oyster Perpetual is the progenitor of all modern Rolex watches and most modern sports watches in general. Born of the 1926 Rolex "Oyster" water resistant case and the 1931 "Perpetual" rotor automatic winding system, the Oyster Perpetual was a landmark watch that remains a staple of the 2023 Rolex watch collection.
But the 2020 arrival of the Rolex Oyster Perpetual 41mm (reference 124300) marked the debut of several special dials now highly sought by watch buyers. Nothing propels collectible Rolex watches like distinctive and discontinued dials, and the Rolex OP41 already has several. While the well-known Rolex "Tiffany" turquoise dial was discontinued after 2021, so was the vivid "coral red" dial prized by many Rolex enthusiasts. While OP41 Tiffany prices remain locked in the mid-to-upper $30,000 range, the equally rare OP41 coral red trades at $10,000-$12,000 less for the same watch with a comparably attractive dial.
The Omega Speedmaster has been around for so long - and in so many iterations - that even committed watch collectors can become exhausted with the line. But 2020 marked the return of a legend; long discontinued Omega caliber 321 was relaunched in package with panache to match. The limited production Omega Speedmaster Calibre 321 struck a chord with watch enthusiasts, space enthusiasts, and watch collectors who like the idea of vintage watches but not the compromises.
Powered by a Lemania-based column wheel calibre 321, the affectionately nicknamed Omega Speedmaster "Ed White" (311.30.40.30.01.001) recalls the vintage Omega Speedmaster 105.003 worn by American astronaut Ed White during his 1965 Gemini program spacewalk.
That Pre-Moon Speedmaster returns in a faithful 39.7mm stainless steel package whose only concessions to modernity are sapphire crystals, a display caseback, and general refinement. While the Omega's retail price of $14,600 is multiples of a standard Speedmaster Professional Moonwatch, the "Ed White" trades at well over $20,000 as a preowned watch, and that's despite three years of continuous production.
Other watches in today's feature include the Rolex Cellini Prince collection, the Rolex Sea Dweller 116600, the Rolex Deepsea Sea Dweller D-Blue 126660, the Rolex Datejust Turn-o-Graph 116263, the Patek Philippe Calatrava Pilot 5522A-001, the Patek Philippe Calatrava 6000G-012, the Patek Philippe Gondolo 5105P, the Patek Philippe 5960/1A, the Ulysse Nardin Freak, Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Annual Calendar 25920, and the A Lange & Sohne Saxonia Thin Copper Blue 205.086
