Today's team theme is Panerai, and this Brian and Tim's first mono-brand special for collectors and enthusiasts of Officine Panerai watches. With sizes ranging from 47mm down to 42, our incomparable WatchBox preowned inventory yields a Panerai watch for every wrist size and every budget.
Brian's assortment starts with the complicated black ceramic Panerai Luminor 1950 10-Days GMT Ceramica PAM 335. This 44mm black bruiser ranks among the most feature-dense of Panerai offerings. With a ten-day power reserve, power reserve indicator, automatic winding, a GMT second time zone, and a manufacture caliber P.2003, the PAM 335 offers both capability and scratch resistance.
In the interest of contrast, Brian highlights the 42mm Radiomir 1940 3 Days PAM 655. With a thin case, micro-rotor caliber P.4000 movement, and white dial, this steel option is an option for those with smaller wrists, a taste for smaller watches, or a preference for elegant packaging.
Enthusiasts of Panerai history will thrill to the inclusion of the Panerai Luminor Marina 8 Days PAM 590, a special series of 1,000 pieces built for the United States Market. A Panerai caliber P.5000 manual-wind movement provides 192 hours of power reserve, and the "8 Gironi Brevettato" dial recalls the Angelus-powered Panerai 6152 combat watches of the 1950s.
Tim's selections highlight unconventional Panerai watches including the offbeat 2018 Panerai Radiomir 1940 3 Days PAM 791 "Art Deco." This cream-dial model was inspired by 1930s wall clocks, and its soft off-white dial is complemented by unique black hands featured only on this model. A plexiglas crystal offers vintage feel, and the 47mm steel case houses a manual wind caliber P.3000 with 72 hours of power reserve. This limited edition of 500 pieces is unlike any Panerai watch before or since.
In the same vein as Brian's PAM 655, Tim selected a Luminor Due PAM 676. This 42mm Panerai measures only 10.7mm thick, and its compact steel case elevates the elegance of the Luminor to the level of an accomplished dress watch. With the distinctive Panerai "Device Protecting the Crown" crown guard and a 60-hour manual wind caliber P.1000 movement, this watch is as distinctively Panerai as it is refined.
Tim finishes strong with the spectacular Panerai Luminor 1950 Submersible 3 Days Carbotec PAM 616. The 2015 launch of the PAM 616 marked Panerai's first foray into carbon fiber cases. In fact, the 47mm case, the undirectional dive bezel, and the distinctive crown guard all are fabricated from the carbon composite "Carbotec" material. Endearing ecru lume and blue accents enliven the 300-meter dive watch, and a three-day automatic caliber P.9000 movement provides motive power.
